It was a troubled time in American history. The controversy over slavery has finally come to a head. Displeased with the outcome of the presidential election of Abraham Lincoln, known for his anti-slavery views, most of the southern states secede from the Union. Having no choice but to fight in order to preserve the Union, President Abraham Lincoln looks to General George McClellan to kick the newly formed Confederacy in the bud.
McClellan talked a good game:
But his capabilities as a general were clearly lacking!
After blowing the Peninsular Campaign to take the Confederate capital city of Richmond and the Sharpsburg fiasco, wussy McClellan FINALLY wins a victory at Antietam, but just barely. It becomes clear to Lincoln that in order to previal against the south,
McClellan must be replaced!
